Construction litigation likely after woman injured by materials

Construction companies can face legal issues for any number of reasons. Some companies may not receive the pay they are owed, or a partner could unjustly back out of a deal. In some cases, they may face construction litigation if a person is injured by materials, debris or other aspects of a construction project.

Florida readers may be interested in this type of case currently underway in another state. Apparently, a woman was walking with her husband and dog near a construction site when a metal railing fell five stories from the roof of a building. The railing hit the woman in the head, causing her to suffer severe injuries to her face, skull and neck. The railing reportedly fell because a crane hauling materials onto the roof hit the railing.

The lawsuit claims that the construction company was negligent because it did not have a spotter on the roof to ensure that such an incident did not occur. The suit also claims that the company failed to protect passersby. It was unclear what exact damages the woman was pursuing through the lawsuit. The construction company did not provide a comment for the report.

Construction litigation under any circumstances can be difficult for companies to handle. It is important that any claims are thoroughly reviewed and that companies determine what their best courses of action may be. When it comes to defending against claims, Florida construction companies will likely want to consult with their legal counsel about what steps could help them address such matters effectively.
