Mink farm owner pursues construction litigation

It is common for construction projects to cause some disruption in the areas where they occur. While people may expect traffic delays, road closures, loud noise and more, some individuals may feel that the project has affected them more seriously. As a result, construction litigation could result if those parties feel that a project has caused damages.

Florida readers may be interested in such a lawsuit currently underway in another state. Apparently, the owner of a mink farm has filed the lawsuit against the county in which he lives due to construction taking place on fairgrounds near his farm. The construction is intended to improve the fairgrounds, which are approximately 160 feet from the center of the man's farm. However, the man claims that minks are sensitive to light and sound during the birthing season, and the construction allegedly caused stillbirths and other losses.

The man and the county attempted to come to an agreement about the construction issues but were unable to do so. As a result, the county intends to continue with the construction. The man filed suit and is hoping to obtain $60,000 in damages.

Construction can be a sensitive topic for many people because they believe it causes serious disruptions. As a result, Florida construction companies may face backlash from those in areas surrounding projects, like this case shows. If so, owners may want to ensure that they understand their options when facing construction litigation and how they can best go about protecting their projects and their companies after facing legal claims.
