AT&T workers involved in contract disputes

It is common for employers to utilize employment contracts to create an understanding between themselves and employees. These contracts can include various terms, and in some cases, those terms do not always work in everyone's favor. As a result, it is common for contract disputes to arise, especially when contracts expire and workers want to negotiate for better terms.

Florida residents may be interested in such a dispute that is currently involving AT&T workers in five other states. It was reported that approximately 14,000 workers have gone on strike in those states due to unsuccessful negotiations over their contracts. The contracts apparently involve employees who install and repair AT&T services. The workers have reportedly become more uncomfortable with the situation because AT&T representatives have begun emailing workers directly about the negotiations rather than going through the union.

The emails indicate that the terms provided are the final offer the company has to extend. They believe that they have offered workers generous benefits and wage increases and that the contract works in the best interests of the employees. However, the workers apparently do not share that assessment of the terms.

While employment agreements can have many benefits, contract disputes can pose many difficulties. Of course, in many cases, these disputes can help the parties involved reach the best terms. If Florida workers feel that their employment contracts are unfair or present other reason for dispute, they may wish to consult with knowledgeable attorneys regarding their legal options for negotiating acceptable terms.
